Where Northern Territory differs, in detail
The specifics a product built for one state gets wrong everywhere else.
- NT calls it 'approval' under s46, not 'registration' — different statutory language to carry through copy.
- Curriculum is mandated: the program must use an ACARA-approved curriculum (s46(6)(a)) — QLD's home education is curriculum-agnostic with an open quality bar instead.
- A statutory inspection is required every single approval period (s47) — a harder, named requirement than QLD's process, which has no visit requirement.
- Approval is fixed at exactly one school year with mandatory annual reapplication — no multi-year registration option.
- 2–3 dedicated-workspace photos are a stated application requirement — QLD does not ask for home/environment photos.
- A teacher engaged (not the parent) to deliver home education must hold NT teacher registration and a Working with Children Clearance ('Ochre Card') — a different scheme name from QLD's Blue Card, and it attaches to engaged teachers, not the parent.
- No NT Certificate of Education and Training (NTCET) is issued via home education — any QLD QCE/QCIA-style credential mapping needs NT-specific handling.
