Why this price — the maths, openly
Curriculum platforms
Leading curriculum-only programs cost roughly $565–674/year — lessons and materials, but no professionals and no tailoring engine.
Professional support
One session with a psychologist, counsellor or specialist teacher is around $200. ParkSyde includes one every term — ~$800/year of support, built in.
ParkSyde Family
$1190/year covers both — the complete adaptive curriculum and the professional team — for about what the two would cost separately. AIC-eligible families may cover most of it with their allowance.
🧠 Formal assessments, done properly
Our AHPRA-registered psychologists hold the test-user accreditation required to purchase and administer licensed psychometric instruments — including modern online assessment platforms such as MHS NOVA — for cognitive, attention and behavioural assessment. Your included consultation is the front door: if a formal assessment would genuinely help, your psychologist scopes it with you and quotes member rates up front. No assessment is ever sold before a professional says it's warranted.
💰 Government help: what's real, and how to get it
The honest picture first
Australia has no general payment for choosing to home educate. But many ParkSyde families do qualify for real support — and we help you claim it.
Home education also doesn't affect your usual Family Tax Benefit, and NDIS plans can fund disability-related learning supports (not tuition itself).
Assistance for Isolated Children (AIC) — around $4,000+/year
A non-taxable Centrelink payment for children who can't attend a local government school because of geographic isolation, or a disability, medical or additional need that makes school unsuitable. Many home-educating families are eligible without realising.
Claims on disability/medical grounds need supporting documentation from a professional — exactly what your included psychologist consultation can provide. Check eligibility at Services Australia or call the AIC line on 132 318.
Payment rules change — always confirm current eligibility with Services Australia. ParkSyde helps with documentation; Centrelink decides claims.
