Where Tasmania differs, in detail
The specifics a product built for one state gets wrong everywhere else.
- Tasmania requires a home visit at both initial registration and every single annual renewal — QLD's standard process has no home-visit requirement at all.
- A second statutory body, the Tasmanian Home Education Advisory Council, independently reviews all new registrations and a sample of renewals — QLD has no equivalent council in the approval chain.
- Registration is checked against 10 named Standards set in the Education Regulations 2017, not a general 'quality of education' description — more codified than QLD's approach even though neither mandates curriculum content.
- Registration is fixed at exactly one year with a hard 12–15-week renewal application window before expiry — a specific statutory timing rule, not an 'annually, whenever' renewal.
- Non-compliance carries explicit statutory fines (e.g. failing to give the Year-10-transition notice) rather than purely administrative cancellation.
