You'll know you've got it when:
- I can make an artwork MY way — squishing, tearing, sticking, scribbling — and tell you about the making
- I can say that art doesn't have to look like the real thing to be wonderful
- I can look at a picture, point to something I notice, and say how it makes me feel
The secret art shop in your kitchen
Connects to what your guest already knows and makes them curious. Activating prior knowledge is one of the strongest predictors of new learning.
Helper, read aloud: I have a secret. Hiding in our kitchen, RIGHT NOW, is a whole art shop — and everything in it is free. Flour that can turn into paint. Old envelopes begging to be torn up. Pasta shapes that want to be a crown. A potato that would LOVE to be a stamp. Today, our kitchen becomes an ART STUDIO — that's the special word for the room where an artist works. And the artist... is YOU.
