We are learning the sounds for the last letters of the alphabet — j, v, w, x, y and z — and using them to read new words.
You'll know you've got it when:
☐I can say the SOUND (not the name) for j, v, w, x, y and z
☐I can read little words with the new sounds in them, like jam, van, wig and zip
☐I can hear when two words start with the same sound

Helper, read aloud: You have a bag of letter-sounds, and you have been filling it up for weeks. s, a, t, p, i, n. m, d, g, o, c, k. e, u, r, h, b, f, l. That is a LOT. But if we tip the bag right upside down and shake it... there are six letters still stuck in the bottom corner. Six letters you almost never see. They are the shy ones, the rare ones, the ones that hardly ever come out — and today we are getting every single one of them. After today, there are no letters left hiding. Not one.
