Flash! How Many Did You See?
π― Today's mission briefing
We are learning to see how many things are in a small group without counting them one by one β and to check what our eyes saw by touching and counting.
You'll know you've got it when:
- I can say how many objects I see (up to 3, then up to 5) in a quick flash
- I can show that many fingers without counting each finger
- I can make a group of that many objects myself
The Peek-a-boo Buttons
Connects to what your guest already knows and makes them curious. Activating prior knowledge is one of the strongest predictors of new learning.
Helper, read aloud: I'm going to hide some buttons under this tea towel. When I lift it, you get only a tiny peek β quick as a blink β then it goes back down. Ready? (Hide 2 buttons, flash them for one second, cover them.) How many did you see? You didn't even have time to count... but you KNEW! Your eyes have a superpower called 'seeing how many' β today we're going to train it. And we're going to learn the champion's habit: eyes guess, fingers check.
