You'll know you've got it when:
- I can point to the body part for each of my five senses
- I can pick the best sense for finding something out
- I can say the safety rule: we never taste or sniff mystery things — we look, and we tell our helper
The quiet-as-a-gecko game
Connects to what your guest already knows and makes them curious. Activating prior knowledge is one of the strongest predictors of new learning.
Helper, read aloud: Let's play the quietest game in the world. We're going to sit as still as a gecko on a wall, close our eyes, and count to ten in a whisper. Ready? Ssshhh... Now — keep those eyes closed — what can you HEAR? A bird? A car? The fridge humming? A mower somewhere far away? Point in the direction of a sound and tell me what you think it is. You just did something amazing: you found things out WITHOUT LOOKING. How did you do that?
