The mystery under your feet
Connects to what your child already knows and makes them curious. Activating prior knowledge is one of the strongest predictors of new learning.
Stand at your front door and look down your street. Now here's the mystery: what was here 100 years ago? Before your house was built — before the road was even a road — what would you have seen standing in this exact spot? A farm? A forest? A creek? Somebody once stood right where you're standing and saw something completely different. Today you'll learn how history detectives find out.
