The Prep–12 Curriculum

A spine for the whole of school, aligned to the Australian Curriculum v9 and organised into developmental bands so the way we teach always matches the way your child thinks.

How much teaching is here — counted, not estimated

Right now ParkSyde holds 418 lessons — about 315 hours across all of Prep to Year 12, which is roughly 10–30 hours per year level (exact figures on each band below). A full Australian school year is closer to 1,000 hours.

So this is a spine, not a replacement for the whole year: explicit teaching of the core ideas, the outcomes mapped, and the registrar evidence kept as you go — around which you build reading, projects, practice, excursions and life. Families who want a program that fills every teaching hour should know that before they pay us, not after.

These numbers are computed from the curriculum files each time this page renders, so they cannot drift from what actually exists. More units are being authored; the figure will move as they land.

13 year levels · 8 learning areas · 101 units. Prep to Year 10 is tagged with Australian Curriculum v9 content descriptions — 671 distinct codes, cited 848 times across the units, and every citation is checked against ACARA’s register on every change. Years 11 and 12 cite QCE syllabus units instead, because AC v9 does not run to senior secondary; those reference numbers are ours and must not be submitted as curriculum codes. The first lesson of every unit is free to read in full, in every year level — 101 complete lessons, not extracts.
